New and looking around for info

Post by Dunappy » Sat Nov 17, 2007 3:36 pm

Hi all, I'm new on here and starting to look around.
I'm specifically looking for info and plans for a small scale digester that will work on manure from 6-8 horses, with additional manure from several chickens and 2 dogs.
I'll need to build one that is insulated and heated for our winters. I'm hoping to use the methane to replace our propane useage or to generate electricity which ever is easier.

I'm also looking for info for my friend who has 3 horses, a variety of poultry and 7 or 8 dogs. Basically I'm looking to find out if there would be a big difference in the digesters based on the materials digested? Would my digester being filled mainly with horse manure be bigger then my friends that would be a total mix between dog, horse and chicken manure?

Anyway I'm off to browse and start looking for some of this info, but if you know a good place for me to look please post it here.
thanks

Hi Dunappy,

Welcome.

A good place to start would be with this online calculator. It can give you a rough idea of the size of your digester and an estimate of gas production.
